Wellingborough Dog Welfare, or Wellidog as we are more fondly known is a local charity in Grendon, Northamptonshire, and we are dedicated to making life easier for strays and unwanted dogs locally from surrounding areas. With so many abandoned and unwanted dogs entering kennels every day we are committed to finding loving homes for all of our dogs. We are a no-kill shelter who believe that second hand dogs make first class friends, and we work around the clock to raise funds to care for the dogs in our care while we search for their perfect forever home.

BOBBY

Bobby is around 7 months old and is a very nervous little soul, though he does have slightly more confidence than some of the others. Once he feels safe, he’ll happily come over to say hello and absolutely loves licking your hands. While cuddles are still a bit too scary for him at the moment, his affection shines through in other ways – including his little tail wagging away when he’s feeling brave.

When Bobby feels overwhelmed, he will hit the floor and make himself small, so he will need a calm, patient home that understands nervous dogs and is happy to let him go at his own pace. With time, reassurance, and kindness, his confidence will continue to grow.

Bobby would benefit from living with another confident, friendly dog, who can help show him the world isn’t such a scary place. He could live with sensible children aged 8+ who understand that he needs space and gentle handling.

He’s already showing glimpses of the lovely character he’s going to be – Bobby loves to “smile” and show his teeth in a completely affectionate, endearing way that just melts hearts.

With patience, love, and the right home, Bobby will blossom into a truly special companion.

BEA

Bea is a roughly 7-month-old Bichon who has had very little socialisation and hasn’t really seen the outside world yet. Because of this, she is extremely nervous and when she feels overwhelmed she will drop flat to the floor. She is not aggressive or reactive – just frightened and unsure.

Despite her worries, Bea truly wants to be friends. Once she starts to trust you, her personality begins to shine and she shows her adorable side by standing up on her back legs like a little meerkat to see what’s happening around her. She soon becomes a very cheeky girl but will need time and patience.

Bea will need a calm, understanding home with plenty of time and patience to help her build confidence at her own pace. She will benefit greatly from living with another kind, confident dog who can help guide her and make her feel safe.

She could live with dog-savvy children aged 8+ who understand the importance of being gentle, quiet, and giving her space while she settles.

Bea is not an “instant” dog, but for the right home she will be incredibly rewarding. With love, consistency, and kindness, she has all the potential to come out of her shell and become a wonderful companion.

She loves to play with toys and will tag them about, she can act all shy but when not looking she lets that slip away 😂 regular grooming is a must

KIRI

Kiri is a gorgeous 1½-year-old lurcher with the loveliest, kindest temperament. She’s a gentle girl at heart who absolutely adores being around people and will happily soak up all the company and affection you can give her.

She has a fun, playful side too – Kiri loves a good zoomie session and is very proud of her signature move: flinging her toys up in the air and pouncing on them 🥰 It’s guaranteed to make you smile. She is so funny and such a happy girl. She travels really well in the car

Kiri is:

Barney is a beautiful young Bichon who is looking for a very special, patient home where he can learn that the world is a safe and kind place. He is around 7 months old

Barney is nervous of new people and unfamiliar environments. He has had very little socialisation so far, and when he feels overwhelmed or frightened he will often freeze and lie flat on the floor. Despite this, Barney really does want to be friends – his fear just gets in the way right now. With time, understanding, and gentle encouragement, he has the potential to blossom.

At home, Barney does get excited to see his people and will jump on his back legs with excitement. He is currently scared of being touched but will allow it, but food is a big motivator for him and will be a great tool in building trust and confidence. Deep down he loves the fuss and he has come out of his shell and has a cheeky side to him. He will need slow, positive lead training, as the outside world is currently very daunting for him.

Barney is fine with other dogs, another confident dog may do him the world of good. He loves his food and treaties. Grooming is essential for him

Barney is not a “ready-made” dog, but for the right person, helping him come out of his shell will be incredibly rewarding. If you can offer him the time, patience, and gentle love he needs, Barney could become a wonderful companion.

PRINCESS

Meet Princess a beautiful 8 year old Bichon looking for her forever home!

Princess truly lives up to her name- she adores people and thrives on attention, cuddles and plenty of fuss. She has a sweet affectionate nature and loves being part of the family

She is good with other dogs and can live with children 8+

This lovely girl enjoys her walks and more so she loves her food. Her tail is always wagging and she is so happy to see you bouncing around like a meerkat. A really sweet little girl!!

BRUNO

Bruno is a lovely 10-year-old Bichon Frise with a big personality and lots of love to give. He absolutely adores being with people and is happiest when he’s part of the action. He’s a real little companion dog who thrives on human company.

Bruno loves his food and gets very excited at mealtimes – he can be a bit snatchy, though it’s worth noting he is currently very underweight and will need someone committed to helping him regain condition in a safe, steady way.

Despite his age, Bruno still has plenty of energy and really enjoys his walks. He would suit a home that can give him regular outings and gentle exercise. Grooming is essential for Bruno, as with all Bichons, so his new family must be prepared for regular brushing and professional grooming.

Bruno is looking for a calm, loving retirement home where he can be cherished, but don’t be fooled by the word “retirement” – he’s still full of life and character. He does like to bark, and his bark amusingly sounds a bit like a seal, which only adds to his charm!

If you’re looking for a sweet, people-loving little dog to share your life with and can offer patience, care, and lots of affection, Bruno could be the perfect companion.

SASHA

Sasha is a stunning 2-year-old German Shepherd x Akita with a heart full of love to give. She is a fantastic dog who thrives on being outdoors and absolutely loves going on adventures. Whether it’s long walks, exploring new places, or simply enjoying fresh air, Sasha is happiest when she’s out and about. She also loves to just chill at home

She can be a little aloof when she first meets new people, which is very typical of her breed mix, but once she gets to know you, her true personality shines through. Sasha is extremely playful, fun-loving, and full of character, and she builds strong bonds with the people she trusts.

Sasha would be best suited to a home with children aged 10+, she seems to be fine with other dogs and wants to play.

She is a truly beautiful girl inside and out, and there is honestly nothing bad to say about her. Sasha is looking for a loving home that will give her the time and affection she deserves. In return, she will offer loyalty, companionship, and endless love.

Patsy can be a little reserved and shy at first, but once she feels safe, her true nature shines through. She is incredibly cuddly, clingy, and affectionate—a real velcro dog who loves nothing more than being close to her person and soaking up cuddles. Given time and patience, she will gently come out of her shell and reward you with deep loyalty and love.

Having previously been a breeding dog, Patsy is still learning what life in a home is all about. She will need an understanding home to help her adjust, but she is very clean in her kennel, which is a great foundation for home life.

She’s happiest when she’s close to her humans, but she also enjoys entertaining herself with soft toys and having a good chase after a ball. She would love a home where she can enjoy regular walks, exploring new places, and being part of everyday life. She loves to carry a soft toy around and show it off!

She will need a patient and understanding home who will love her for who she is! She can get a bit nervous out and about so needs encouragement. She could live with savvy children 8+. Unfortunately due to lack of socialisation she needs to be the only dog and she will be heard if there are other dogs around. No cats.

Meet Dolly (8) and Kenny (6), an inseparable pair of poodle crosses looking for a forever home together. These two are full of character, charm and affection

Dolly is the calmer of the two. She enjoys a gentle pottering around the house and garden then settling down for a cuddle. She loves affection and will give your hand a polite nudge if you dare to stop fussing her!

Kenny is the younger and more energetic one. He is a loving, needy boy who adores being by Dolly’s side. He loves to play with a ball. Meet Bowie – Full of bounce and love!

Age: 2 years old
Breed: crossbreed (possibly yorkie x schnauzer)

Bowie hasn’t had the easiest start- he spent his early life living outside in a rabbit hutch, completely matted and neglected. Despite this, this survivor has a big heart and endless love.

He is a happy, bouncy, affectionate boy who wants nothing more than to be with people. Bowies quirky side? He has a bit of an ear obsession – he loves to lick ears (dogs or people alike)

Because he has never lived in a home properly he will need time, patience and guidance to learn about house training, boundaries and manners. He is an eager boy who is into everything, a wriggler!

He can get frustrated if he can’t do something he wants to or restricted and can give a little nip/mouth. So a confident, calm owner who can set clear, consistent boundaries is a must!

He is good with other dogs and travels well in the car. Unfortunately he is not suitable for a home with young children, teens + if very dog savvy. Regular grooming is essential and he needs to get used to it as has likely never had a groom until now. No cats

Approx 6-7 years old female terrier (possibly Jagd terrier)

Say hello to Boudi, a bright, spirited, busy little terrier with a big personality and a big heart. True to her working type roots, Boudi is always on the go. She loves nothing more than getting out and about, following her nose, exploring the world.

When not exploring she can enjoy curling up in her bed for a snooze. She is a total foodie and will never say no to a tasty treat.

Her favourite thing in life? Her squeaky ball – she takes her ball duties very seriously and will play all day. She does destroy them in the process

Boudi is ok with other dogs though will ignore them when her beloved ball is around. She would suit and active home with plenty of exercise. Children 10+ but no cats!

She greets everybody with her stump tail wagging and her beautiful smile, full of love and enthusiasm. She will make a wonderful companion.

A stunning young staff x (possibly boxer or small bit of lurcher) with a heart as big as her appetite. She came to us a little skinny so is making up for lost time. Food is her greatest love (well, after people of course)

Sky is a bright young girl who loves human company. She is still young and learning so she will need some training and guidance but I am sure she will pick it up quickly!

She does have a prey drive so cannot live with cats and she would be best in a home with no small dogs (although is happy to say hello on a walk), she could live with a medium size dog or bigger. She has not shown any aggression to other dogs

She would love a home to join in on lovely walks and adventures. She is ready to explore the world and be your adventure buddy. She is a nice size and not too big! She could live with sensible children 8+

This happy, playful girl is full of energy and loves nothing more than to play with a tennis ball or a soft toy. She is very clever and learns quickly, she thrives on mental stimulation. She needs a committed owner to keep up her training and take her to puppy classes.

She is fine with other playful dogs. She can get overexcited on the lead around other dogs which can lead to her barking and spinning. This is something that needs ongoing work to help her stay calm and walk nicely around other dogs.

Children 10+ as she is boisterous and nippy at the moment which is normal puppy behaviour. She travels well in the car, adores people, has a wonderful happy, affectionate nature. She loves to snuggle up beside you on the sofa in the evenings, providing she has had the exercise she needs. She will need an active home who can give her the exercise and structure that she needs in her early life stages

He is a little nervous at first but it’s clear he wants to be friends. He just needs time, patience and TLC. Once he trusts you he lights up, loves a fuss and will treat you with zoomies

He doesn’t need an active home as such as one of his legs isn’t quite straight but it is not painful for him.

He could live with another dog but needs to be fed separately. No cats please and children 8+ who can give him the gentle handling he deserves.

This lovely natured girl is in need of an extremely active home, she has so much energy to get rid of! So an active home is essential!

She loves to be outdoors having adventures, physical and mental stimulation. She has good recall and loves a good run around to get her energy out.

After a good walk she can calm down and come for a cuddle. She is a very clever girl and loves to learn with treats, would do well at training.

She is fine with other dogs but she is going to need a very tolerant and playful dog as she has so much energy. She isn’t a dog that is going to just cuddle all the time next to you on the sofa which is something to bear in mind. However she is a dog that would love to be out and about on massive walks exploring

He is good with other dogs and would enjoy living with another dog but this is not essential. He can be a sensitive soul so a quieter home would suit him best where he can relax and get all the love and fuss he deserves. He is ok with children just he can find the noise overwhelming . This boy is a real softy who needs his forever home!

He likes his toys and his treats and generally is a gentle giant. He is really good in the car. In typical husky style he does like to have a conversation with you.

Bonnie is a friendly little lady who loves to be with her people. She loves a snuggle and to be with you. She will happily sit at your feet if you are busy doing something. A very loving little girl

She is a dog that needs her confidence building, she can get quite nervous in situations but this all comes with raising a puppy and getting her used to the outside world. She is very shy with other dogs to start with and will run away screaming but introduced slowly she is fine and will start to play. Any dog she is to live with must be neutered. She likes to play with a toy and is partial to a sock or a sock tug of war.

She is a young dog that is going to need commitment like any puppy does with training, house training and nipping. She does like to nip your ankles (just puppy nipping!) she will also need regular grooming

She isn’t a fan of the rain so needs encouraging to go out for a wee then 🙈☔️

She will make a great companion, she loves to be with people and just wants snuggles. She is very good in her crate overnight

This boy is looking for a loving forever home who will take him on lovely walks and adventures as well as offering plenty of cuddles! He has such a lovely temperament and loves everybody he meets, he really is the sweetest. He will bond very strongly to somebody, he isn’t one for playing with toys at the moment, all he wants is to be by your side or on you for cuddles. He is a leaner and will just sit leaning into your leg for cuddles literally all day if you let him

He loves his dinner he can’t eat it quick enough! As with any puppy he is going to need a bit of training but he is pretty good already, he walks really well on the lead and isn’t overly boisterous. If he is with you he is super happy! He will happily chill on the floor next to you, in the vets he just sat there all calm waiting. He does need a home where somebody will be around most of the day

He is fine with other dogs he just wants to play so could happily live with another dog. This boy really will make somebody a wonderful companion

These two beautiful girls are looking for their forever home who can give them plenty of love and cuddles. They have such wonderful temperaments and are just so happy all of the time.

Lula loves to chase a tennis ball but also sitting on your lap. Poppy likes to have a mooch around but also to still know you are there, she can be a bit whiny as she just loves people too much and attention. They both love their food especially ice cream 🍦

They will need regular grooming as they came to us in a really poor state so it needs to be kept on top of. They will make a wonderful addition to somebodies home or family

They love to go on walks and walk really well on the lead, two dogs ready to go on adventures

Neville is a super sweet little boy who loves to lay on your lap or on his back having his belly rubbed. He loves to be with the other dogs. He loves toys and playing in general, a cheeky chap. But more so he loves water! He will tip his water bowl over just to carry around 💦 he is just such a happy little pup his tail is always wagging and he is looking for a committed home that will take him to training and get him through his chewing stage. He needs a forever commitment.
