SCAMP was in a terrible state when he first arrived at Wellidog… He was flea-ridden and his poor little body was sore all over from his tightly matted coat 😦
Scamp had been passed to a family member after his owner died 2 months prior. Unfortunately he was left to live in a crate in his own mess and was extremely uncomfortable, and as a result had become really nervous and angry 😦 The poor little boy was struggling to walk, terrified and wouldn’t let anyone near him. We couldn’t even remove his lead for 2 days when he first arrived…
Our first task was to try to get him to trust us enough to make him more comfortable. They say that the key to a man’s heart is through his stomach, and as poor Scamp was so underweight this was certainly true of him. We managed to give him a bath, trim and clip his matted coat… The poor boy must have been in agony! We even found out why he had been unable to walk as we found a thorn in his paw that had been left unattended
This was where he lived for two months, the smell was unbelievable!
After spending some time with a foster family, Scamp started to trust people again, and was subsequently re-homed… Unfortunately after two years, Scamp has sadly been failed by people again, and rather than put him in the same position he was he will be staying with his previous Foster Mum Geri who will take care of him on behalf of Wellidog for the rest of his days.
Although this is not the outcome we would want for Scamp, at least we know that he is safe and loved and will never again feel scared ❤
